Another Milestone Passed

This morning before we left for school I took the last picture of John Michael at home as a Kindergartner.

John Michael's program started at 9:00 so I just hung out at the school. We checked Danny out for the program and he was super excited to see his brother, and to get out of class, even though I think they were just watching a movie.  The program was so cute and all of the boys and girls did amazing.  Of course I cried but I was not the only one.  I just cannot believe that he is now a first grader.  Definitely a bittersweet moment.

After his program he was done with school.  Brandon and I took him to Chik-fil-A for lunch, which made him happy.  Then Brandon headed to work and John Michael and I ran a few errands.  We headed back to the school to get Danny man.

After school Danny had the Bible Bee.  Third grade is the first year that you can participate and it was a lot of fun.  Danny was out early, but now he knows what to expect next year.

We headed out to the house this afternoon and they have started the bricking process!  YAY!!!

Bible Bee vs. Den Meeting

Today started with Mass with the School which is always a great way to get through the week, for me it is my chance to regroup and refocus. I enjoy being there with the boys, their school, and Jesus. It is just a good time for me and I think that they enjoy me being there.
So today was the Bible Bee Study. At least I thought that it was so I cancled our Cub Scout den meeting. I picked up John Michael and then drove to the back of the parking lot. About fifteen minutes later I saw Mr. Wright and Danny walking across the parking lot. Evidentally it was the 6-8th graders week for the Bible Bee and they canceled so there was nothing. I was just glad I was not the only parent with the wrong week. Oh well, that is what I get for trying to get on a schedule.
Tonight the Kindergarten classes sent us dinner. It was delicious. It was Kabobs, rice, salad, and chocolate cake from Zoe's.

Meet the Teacher

Well today we got to take the boys' school supplies to their classrooms. They were able to meet their teachers and see their desks, and all that fun stuff.

I have to admit I am a little sad tonight. One, I cannot believe that summer is over. I love summertime, and the fact that it has come to a close makes me a sad momma. I will miss the days with the boys. I am looking forward to getting everyone, including me on a schedule and the house in order. The other reason I am a little sad is that the boys are growing up. John Michael is headed into Kindergarten and Danny into third grade. WOW! Where the heck did the time go? Seems like they should still be babies.

I am so glad that they are excited. It makes me feel like I have done an okay job given the fact that they are happy and independent.

We also got school shoes today. Yes, the last minute is what works for me. What works for you? I really did not mean to wait quite this long, but there was the issue of money more than anything. Not that the issue is still not there, but time was out so now I am just praying! Deposit before clearing! ;)

Brandon has had a great offer for a job this weekend. We might end up in Mobile instead of at the lake. Either one will make me happy. However it is supposed to work out is how it will.

Well, I am off to bed. I am going to get their uniforms out and ready and get in bed at a decent hour. I do not want to start off the school year running behind! I will be in need of support tomorrow, so if you think you see me, check my face for the marks of tears! I am going to do my best to keep it in check until they are in the school. It bothers Danny when momma gets sad. They both were told that First Day of School pictures start in the morning and to be ready! Prayers going out to all of you tonight!

Rained Out

Today started off slow, rainy days always seem to make it a little harder to get into gear. My plan was to drop off John Michael and go to the store, but the bottom decided to drop so I came on home. Brandon was not too happy that it meant another night with no milk. I am going to go tomorrow though. I am hoping that I can get this couponing thing figured out sooner than later too, it sure would be nice. The cost of gas is absolutely killing us.

Well, heading out to get the boys was not any better. It was just nasty and rainy. I was also very weepy today. I miss my dad a lot. It seemed that today everything and everyone reminded me of him. I heard the other day that the grieving stops but the sadness does not and this is so true. Also the rain and the VERY cold May temperatures broke my heart for all of those trying to recover items that mean something to them. I guess it was just a day.

The ballpark closed the fields meaning that the 2 games we had tonight were canceled. Danny will make his up tomorrow night, but I am not sure when John Michael's make up day will be. There are several games to make up so we will see how it all works out. I just hope that they are able to play this week, as they are not scheduled for another game until Tuesday. It is not easy for these little guys to remember everything when they have not been on a field in a while.

I am super excited too, we received the letter today that John Michael was accepted and will start kindergarten at St. Francis next year. This means one schools schedule to maintain and one trip in the mornings and afternoons. Any of the parents there who want to meet me there about an hour before pick up in the afternoons and walk let me know. I am looking forward t adding this to my daily schedule!

Since we were staying in for the night we did whatever for dinner. We had to clean out the refrigerator so all leftovers were warmed up. It was nice to get it all out. We are having taco soup for dinner tomorrow night. I froze it a while back and will be throwing it in the crock pot tomorrow. Seemed fitting since it is still going to be cool.

The boys love the Danimals Crush Cup commercial...crush, crush, zig zag lick....I think that is it anyway. So the pictures are of them recreating it with their popsicles. A treat since they were sad that there was no game.

Well, I am off to bed. There is a lot on the to do list for tomorrow. I hope that you all have a great night and have sweet dreams. Know that all of my friends and family are in my thoughts and prayers! We all have days where we are sad, or down, and today for me my emotions were definitely matching the weather but the small things that I was so thankful for today were numerous! Including avoiding a wreck this morning when some idiot on 459 decided to try to kill several people!

John Michael is 5

So today my baby boy turned 5 years old. I cannot believe it! It does not seem like five years has gone by since that sweet newborn cry surged through the house in the middle of the night, since I changed those tiny diapers. It seems like yesterday I was convinced he would be headed to high school in diapers because he did not want to use a potty. I thought the pacifier was going to be stashed in his pillow case for college, because he loved it. The waddle walk does not seem like years ago, yet now he can run as fast as lightening. He is almost done with pre-school and is headed to kindergarten this fall. He plays baseball and cannot wait to add soccer and chess to his after school activities. Five years seems like a long time, but in all honesty if you blink it is gone and all I have is amazing memories and some great pictures!

We had a great day. This morning he woke up in the best of the moods. He wanted Cheese Whiz and Chicken Biscuit Crackers for breakfast so that is what the boys had. I do not think I could stomach that before 7 am. Brandon took a half a day at work so was able to surprise him when we picked him up from school. He is so used to it just being mom. He took blue and yellow batman cupcakes to school, and he was blue after school. I love icing dye. It was so cute. Danny took a blue one for snack and he even had a blue mouth after school. He was quite surprised to have mom and dad there on a Wednesday too! We went to Party City to get goody bags and just random party supplies for this weekend. Books-A-Million was added to the stops and he got a Super Mario Brothers Yahtzee game and Danny got a new Diary of a Wimpy Kid book. Dinner at Cici's was the next stop where the boys spent abut $15 in the games. He wanted desert at Logan's with a Yee-Haw and he got it. He even had a surprise visitor, his Aunt B and her friend Katie! He loved it. They even brought him a few surprises, including a balloon which he loves! Now if we could get him to sleep. He has had a bath and yet he will not give it up, and momma and daddy are ready to go to bed! I guess the sugar high is still in effect. I am just thankful for an amazing day with my family. I am also very thankful that John Michael had "the best birthday day ever." It made my day when he told me that!

Well, it is definitely not before 9, in fact we are creeping up on 11, but a day like today was well worth a late night! Before I go to bed I will remember all of my friends and family in my prayers. I hope that you remember what a gift each day is that is why we refer to it as the present. Cherish the little things and always hold onto all of the memories!
