Surgery

This morning was John Michael's surgery. We got up and got ready. I got Danny up and ready for picture day at school. He was in his Mass uniform and super handsome. My mom came over this morning so that she could take Danny man to school. She was also going to take him to breakfast, so I know he was loving this morning. He was also glad that he got to see John Michael before his surgery. He was worried that he wouldn't. Such sweet boys that we have.
Brandon, John Michael and myself were at Children's at 7:05. We had to be there by 7:15. John Michael and I walked the halls for a while and did several puzzles in the play room while we were waiting on his surgery. The nurse came and got him about five minutes before 9. He was such a bog boy walking to the back. We got to walk him to the monkey doors, and then we watched him until he turned the corner. My heart was broken, even though I knew that he would be fine, it is just so hard to watch them go somewhere and lose all control. I tried to stay strong and got some coffee and prayed.
His tubes were done in no time. The nurse said that they put the mask on him and he yawned and then he started to laugh. She said that they were all laughing because he had some serious sleeping giggles. Dr. Hill came and let us know when the adenoids were out. He said that they were definitely large. He also said that his eardrums are "floppy" so he is worried about the tubes holding. If they come out there is another type of tube, but he wants to try these first. He gave us the drops and said that John Michael did great and was in recovery.
When the nurses finally brought him back he was a little upset. He had his IV in and did not like it at all. He wanted it out. Once he drank a little they took it out. He was scared that would hurt, but he was big. Plus he had the Demerol stares so he was not paying much attention. He got a Popsicle for the ride home. He was glad to head home.
He got a little sick while we were carrying him to the van. Once we got to the van he fell asleep and pretty much slept the rest of the day. We gave him his medicine every three hours and his ear drops (which he does not like at all) 2 more times. He really wanted Krystal's for dinner so Brandon went and got him some and he ate 4 so I guess he was hungry.
He seems to be in better spirits tonight, and is wide awake from sleeping all day. The doctor said that we can send him back to school as early as Monday as long as he is up to it. He said for some they are only out a few days for others a week.
Well, I am off. I am working on homework and editing while he watches TV. I am so proud of how big he was today. As soon as he goes to sleep I am headed there myself! Hopefully it will be sooner than later.

International Rosary

Today the boys were excited because they got to wear their spirit shirts to school instead of their uniforms. Danny's is orange and John Michael's is blue. They looked super handsome. Danny wore khakis and John Michael jeans. I have to go get Danny some jeans sooner than later. He also wants some comfy pants, which means athletic pants. I will have to see what I can do there to.

Brandon did not have to be at work until 8 so he took the boys to school. It was a nice surprise as I was able to do some yoga, drink a pot of coffee, and work in the house. With John Michael's surgery tomorrow I wanted the majority of the house clean so we could relax this weekend.

I went to the school to go to the International Rosary at 2:00. It was such a moving Rosary. With each grade in their spirit shirts, and saying the Rosary in a different language. This is something that I hope they do every year. It was a gorgeous moment and I am thankful I was there to share it with my boys. John Michael said it in English, and Danny in German. I was definitely one proud momma and I think that all of the other parent's who were blessed enough to be there were also very proud.

John Michael is starting to get a little nervous about his surgery. He told his teacher today that he was scared. He asked me if he could sleep in our bed tonight, of course I was not going to tell him no. I know that he will be okay but I am worried. Motherhood the greatest gift ever and is also the hardest thing. My heart breaks when I cannot help my boys. This is one of those times that my heart is breaking.

Well, I am off to edit a little and then try to get some sleep. I probably should have broken out the wine bottle...at least for one glass. Know that you are all in my prayers and please say a prayer for John Michael and his surgery tomorrow. We have to be at Children's at 7:15.

Haunted Cubs

So today was a pretty good day, while I was nowhere near as productive as I would have liked, it was all good though.

It started with the school Mass with the boys. Today's mass focused on listening to the many voices of God and how He sends us messages in many ways. It was a great message and I was super proud of the boys and the fact that they were able to tell me what Fr. Bob said.

As surgery day is getting closer John Michael is starting to get scared. It breaks my heart. I just keep reassuring him that his ear doctor is great and that Mom and Dad will be right there. It was so much easier when he did not realize what was happening. My sweet baby boy.

John Michael ended the day with a green face, which made me so proud. He is such a sweet boy and just has to learn that he cannot always have it his way.

So I have decided that I will learn how to coupon. I do not know that I will ever been an extreme couponer, but I have to be able to save money and to be able to help others would be nice. First step, remembering to get a Sunday paper.

So tonight was the Cub Scout Pack meeting, which was a Halloween party. We wanted the boys' to have a good time and get to wear their costumes. It was a great meeting. We made goody bags for all of the kids, and I want to thank the parents for all bringing candy to add to them. It is always nice to know that everyone helped out. The bags were full!! Thanks to everyone who helped me get them stuffed too! I had done what I could at home, but getting them finished up was concerning me. Thanks to the amazing parents that we have it was done without any problems.

Well, I am off to bed. Know that you are all in my prayers. Brandon is taking the boys' to school in the morning so hopefully I will be VERY productive.
